Warm Homes Plan (Government announcement – January 2026)
The government has announced a £15 billion Warm Homes Plan to help households benefit from home upgrades including solar panels and battery storage. It includes plans for government-backed low and zero-interest loans for solar PV, with loans also intended to be available for battery storage.
For eligible low-income households / those in fuel poverty, the plan states support could cover the full cost of measures such as solar panels and a battery (the government’s example cites an average cost of £9,000–£12,000)
Funding/finance availability and eligibility criteria are subject to government rollout and may change.
